The Evolvement of Wine Label Design

It has never been so important for product designers to be on top of their game because this is the 21 Century and how something looks is as important as how it smells, tastes, feels or functions. We want instant visual gratification!

The Dog Lovers Wine Club created a signature wine series celebrating 22 dogs that were rescued from Michael Vick’s dog-fighting operation.
It’s not just label design that is becoming more competitive, even the wine bottle shapes are being tweaked to be more productive and eye catching.

The three Michelin starred Spanish Chef Martín Berasategui has invented a wine bottle, which has a sediment-capturing chamber at the bottom. A little controversial for a lot of traditional wine makers and connoisseurs, so we’ll see if this one truly takes off! From a design perspective though we rather like it.

No one wants to drink bland wines from bland looking bottles, you’ve got to dress to impress.

Wine production is on the increase across the world and despite rising prices, the consumption of this age-old drink keeps rising.
With China and India now joining the wine production markets in a major fashion, it is vital that everyone ensures their products get noticed.
This has increased the evolvement of wine label design, forcing a lot of wine producers to step out of their traditional wine label comfort zone and give us some eye-catching labels.
